Funding

Pupil Premium

Since its introduction, Rushton School has received very low levels of Pupil Premium, and in recent years non at all. Currently there is a small level of funding. This has been used to create a daily ‘interventions’ session which runs four times a week.

A selection of children with specific needs receive one to one support working on a variety of specific targets set jointly by the SENCO and the class teacher. These include work on:

  • Motor skills
  • Phonic decoding – both for KS1 readers and spelling catch-up in KS2
  • Speech therapy
  • Individual courses for children with dyslexic tendencies
  • Individual courses for children with gaps in their mathematical knowledge

Sports Premium

Rushton School recieves the full sports premium grant each year. This money is spent in a variety of ways.

  • PE & Sports Funding
  • Training for teachers leading to a better understanding of how to teach PE and acquisition of a widening array of skills.
  • Employment of specialist teachers for PE, Dance and Gymnastics through Progressive Sports East Cheshire – children receive a more specialist curriculum.
  • Purchase of a wider array of equipment for PE lessons and break times – children have a wider array of active activity choices during their free time.
  • Twice weekly multisports club – parents report that children are noticably fitter.
  • New storage facilities –  children are able to select their own activities during playtime.
